Red Onion Dressing

This is the recipe for the red onion dressing that was part of the meal at the stake service project.

RED ONION SALAD DRESSING

1/2 red onion cut in quarters
2/3 c. cider vinegar
3/4 c. sugar or Splenda
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. salt
1 c. canola oil
1 T. poppy seeds (optional)

In blender or food processor, blend onion and vinegar until smooth, about 1 minute.  Add next 3 ingredients.  While blending, slowly pour in salad oil.  Refrigerate and enjoy over your favorite salads.  I usually serve it over salad greens and top with toppings like mandarin oranges, sliced strawberries, sliced green or red onion, slivered almonds, green apples, Craisins, etc.  Also good served with grilled chicken.

Strengthened by the Power of the Holy Ghost

"Make up your minds to live humbly and in such a way that you will always have the Spirit of the Lord to be your Friend."  Lorenzo Snow

We are dependent upon the Holy Ghost to aid us, and show us what is neccessary in peculiar circumstances.  We must live in such a way that the power is available in our lives.

Through the gift of the Holy Ghost, we are led to all truth and strengthened in our faith.  The Savior said those who receive the gift of the Holy Ghost could be shown the truth of all things.  It should be more than that spirit filling the immensity of space; it should lead us to all truth, and show us things to come.  It is a different principle from anything that we see manifested in the sectarian world.  It is a principle of intelligence and revelation received through obedience to the requirements of the gospel.

Every Latter-day Saint can have the Holy Ghost as a friend to give counsel.  It can bring us happiness and peace of mind.  We should understand the voice and whisperings of the Holy Spirit.  The blessings of the Holy Ghost can save lives and provided peace during times of trial if we live the gospel in such a way that we feel approved of God.  Repentance allows us to live without condemnation, so we can enjoy peace and happiness in this world.

We need the assistance of the Holy Ghost as we endure trials, fulfill our duties, and prepare for celestial glory.
